Former Leeds United trainee Mark Ray has been recalled to the Jersey football team for the 2009 Island Games in Aland.

Midfielder Ray, 29, is part of an experienced squad which also sees recalls for Jersey Scottish pair Ross Crick and Marc Brown.

Ray's last inclusion in a Jersey squad came as part of the bronze medal winning squad of 2001.

Seven of the 18-man squad played at the last Island Games in Rhodes in 2007.

Four more of the side did not play in Rhodes but have played in previous Games.

With island manager Dave Kennedy quitting his role at the end of the season his assistant, St Paul's manager Craig Culkin will take charge of the side.

Culkin will be assisted by Martin Cassidy and former island manager Kevin McCarthy, who was in charge of Jersey at the 1999 and 2001 Island Games.

Eight of Culkin's island squad come from his club side St Paul's, while their rivals for the title, Trinity, have three representatives.
