Title race wide open as North win

Football: North v Bels
Wanderers only managed one in reply to four goals from North

North went back on level terms with champions Belgrave Wanderers at the top of Guernsey's Senior County League after beating them 4-1 on Saturday.

Two goals from Simon Tostevin along with one from Craig Young and a Joby Bourgaise own goal secured with win for North at the Track.

Wanderers replied through a Steve Ozanne own goal.

The title now looks as though it could go down to the final game of the season when the two sides meet again.

Next week North face bottom side Rovers, who have yet to get a point all season, while Bels must go to third-placed St Martin's before the showdown between the top two on Tuesday, 10 March.

"We went in there with a game plan and it worked really well. We won 4-1 but it could have been more," North manager Micky Ogier told BBC Guernsey.

"Craig Young's goal was very good and Simon Tostevin had a good goal as well. Things that we've been working on in training have been coming off.

"It's been our aim since the start of the season to win the league and we've got a good opportunity to do that now," Ogier added.

Elsewhere St Martin's have secured a third-placed finish to the season after beating second-from-bottom Vale Rec 3-0 at the Corbet Field.

While Rovers look more and more likely that they will end their campaign by losing every one of their 18 matches. They lost their 16th in a row 8-1 at home to second-from-bottom Sylvans.

Rovers have now conceded 91 goals in 16 games and have a minus 81 goal difference.
