Rotherham 1-1 Darlington

(after extra time; Rotherham win 4-2 on penalties)

Rotherham scraped through to the northern area final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory against Darlington.

Steven Cann was the Millers' hero, saving two penalties before Michael Cummins scored the winning spot-kick.

Darlington skipper Steve Foster had given his side the lead from close range before Danny Harrison equalised in the second half.

Rotherham will play Scunthorpe in the two-legged northern final in January.


Rotherham: Cann, Green, Sharps, Fenton, Tonge, Cummins, Danny Harrison, Holmes (Joseph 46), Taylor, Rhodes (Hudson 57), Reid (Burchill 72).
