Schuster leads the defectors
The defectors: Bernd Schuster (left); Ronaldo (top right); Michael Laudrup (bottom right)
Blond bombshell Bernd Schuster was a free-scoring, multi-talented German midfielder who blossomed during his eight-year spell at Barca in the 1980s.

A controversial figure, Schuster fell out with the president and successive coaches at the Camp Nou, but was a darling of the club's fans until he left for Real Madrid in 1988.

He became the first player to move between the clubs since French midfielder Lucien Muller in 1965.

The move opened the floodgates for the likes of Denmark's Michael Laudrup (bottom right) - in 1994 - and Brazilian star Ronaldo (top right) - in 2002 - to make the switch.
