Truro City's unbeaten record in the Southern League came to an end on Saturday as they lost 2-1 to Beaconsfield at Treyew Road.
Charlie Hill's last-minute goal saw the visitors claim all three points as Truro slip to third in the table.
Matthew Bubb got a 13th-minute opener for the away side before Stewart Yetton equalised 15 minutes from the end.
"They tried to catch us on the break and that's exactly what they did," City boss Sean McCarthy told BBC Cornwall.
"I'm disappointed really," he added. "Before the game I said to the players that teams are going to come down here and put 11 men behind the ball and that's exactly what they did.
"We got back into the game in the second half and we pushed forward.
"Whether that was the right thing to push on forward, or maybe settle for a draw, but our mentality is to go forward try and win games and we tried to to that and they caught us on the break."
