McClaren consoles Hasselbaink after the 2006 Uefa Cup final
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been reunited with former England manager Steve McClaren as he looks to launch a career in coaching.
Hasselbaink, who retired as a player on Monday, will team up with McClaren at Dutch side FC Twente on a trial basis.
The pair previously worked together at Middlesbrough, McClaren signing the Dutch striker from Chelsea in 2004.
"(He) has long been thinking about a career in training," his agent Humphrey Nijman told Voetbal International.
Hasselbaink, 36, played for Championship side Cardiff last season, but was not offered a new deal by the Bluebirds.
And, according to Nijman, the former Leeds United, Chelsea and Charlton striker turned down offers to play in the Middle East in order to concentrate on coaching.
Nijman also revealed that his client has ambitions to manage, saying: "He was approached about a manager's job in England last year, but he eventually opted for something else - but he is seriously interested."
