Parkway start with convincing win

Dave Leonard
It was Leonard's first match in Cornwall since resigning as Truro boss

Ex-Truro boss Dave Leonard could not have asked for a better start to his Plymouth Parkway reign as his new side thrashed Falmouth Town 6-1.

The scoring started with a header from Matt Hawke, with Paul Baker securing a two goal lead by half-time.

John Heveran and Sam Matthews both found the net after the break, while Lewis Young scored twice to fire Parkway into a 6-0 lead.

Falmouth pulled a consolation goal back in stoppage time from the penalty spot.

It was Leonard's first trip to Cornwall since resigning as Truro City manager in April.

In the Peninsula League's other matches Saltash United drew 2-2 at home with Wadebridge Town, while Liskeard Athletic beat Newton Abbot Spurs 3-2 after putting their current squad together almost from scratch.

Elsewhere, Witheridge travelled to The Mill and extended their unbeaten run to 13 games by drawing 1-1 with Torpoint Athletic.

Clyst Rovers enjoyed a comfortable 6-2 win over Launceston, while Cullompton Rangers convincingly beat Tavistock 7-1.
