Everton and Spurs went out of the Uefa Cup after losing penalty shoot-outs.
Everton fought back brilliantly before losing a dramatic shoot-out
Everton, 2-0 down after the first leg, fought back to take their tie against Fiorentina into extra time with goals from Andy Johnson and Mikel Arteta.
But Yakubu hit the post in the shoot-out before Phil Jagielka's effort was saved to send Fiorentina through.
Dimitar Berbatov's late goal earned Spurs a 1-1 aggregate score against PSV but Jermaine Jenas and Pascal Chimbonda missed the crucial shoot-out kicks.

2250: What a night. Drama, drama, drama. I feel drained. Bolton are now England's last surviving representative in the Uefa Cup, while Rangers have a great chance of progress. Both of those second legs tomorrow. Until then, a calming cup of chamomile tea all round. Or something stronger...
2237: In the Uefa Cup, Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is our Player of the Day on 7.93, just ahead of Spurs goalscorer Dimitar Berbatov. In the Premier League, it's all about four-goal Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard on 8.67. Still time to vote though - if you have the energy after all that nerve-shredding drama.
2234: "Never fancied Chimbonda with that penalty. Only ones that looked calm were Bent, who hit his wonderfully, and Berbatov who is ridiculously cool. Such a shame both English teams won tonight and lost on penalties! Both were poor in the first leg though, and that's what has lost them the games. Bolton will really really struggle tommorow night. It's OK though lads, take a look at the CL."

2230: Heartbreak for the English sides. Phil Jagielka sees his penalty saved after Yakubu hit the post as Fiorentina win the shoot-out 4-2. Jermaine Jenas has a chance to win it for Tottenham but his effort is saved by Gomes before Pascal Chimbonda puts his spot-kick wide to give PSV a 6-5 win on penalties.

2216: OK I'm going to try to keep you across both shoot-outs with the help of my lovely assistant Dan Warren. The Everton shoot-out will appear first, with the Tottenham shoot-out underneath. But please bear with us.
2214: FULL-TIME Everton 2-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-2)
And penalties at Goodison Park too.
2213: FULL-TIME PSV 0-1 Tottenham (agg 1-1)
Penalties is it. What a save that was. Did I tell you already?
2213: Oh my word. Steed Malbranque's volley looks to be heading to the top corner but Gomes somehow claws it away. How did he do that? Incredible.
2212: A worrying moment for Everton as Giampaolo Pazzini spins a shot inches wide.
2210: "Everton deserve to be gutted if they go out on pens."

2208: Less than five minutes of extra time remaining in both games.
2205: PSV win a free-kick wide on the right as Didier Zokora takes out Danko Lazovic with a sliding challenge. The set-piece comes back to Balazs Dzsudzsak but his shot is blocked.
2203: Everton sub Victor Anichebe finds Andy Johnson in space on the right. His cross is met by the defender who pushes it straight at his own keeper. Fiorentina survive.
2159: And we're up and away again with only 15 minutes remaining until possible penalties. I have no idea how I will keep you up to date with simultaneous shoot-outs. Answers on a postcard.
2157: And they're swapping ends at the Philips Stadium too.
2156: It's half-time in extra time at Goodison Park. We're heading for pens...
2154: Yakubu continues to terrorise the Fiorentina defence, twisting and turning before shooting over.
2151: FULL-TIME Chelsea 6-1 Derby
A walk in th park. Frank Lampard scores four to take his Chelsea tally to 17 for the season.
2143: Edison Mendez is a fortunate to get away with a terrible late challenge on Pascal Chimbonda - not spotted by the ref. Moments later, Darren Bent's well-struck volley flies past the post.
2141: Extra time is under way in the two Uefa Cup games...
2139: FULL-TIME Portsmouth 4-2 Birmingham
Portsmouth go seventh after a thriller at Fratton Park.
2138: FULL-TIME Aston Villa 1-1 Middlesbrough
A highly contentious penalty earns Aston Villa a point
2137: GOAL Portsmouth 4-2 Birmingham
Pedro Mendes' cross from the right is met by a flying header from Kanu to put the seal on their win.
2137: FULL-TIME Everton 2-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-2)
A brilliant fightback from Everton takes this into extra time although they may feel they should have won it in normal time.
2136: FULL-TIME PSV 0-1 Tottenham (agg 1-1)
Extra time it is after Dimitar Berbatov's late equaliser.
2136: Chelsea are really rubbing it in now. Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevechenko are on.
2134: Into injury time in the Uefa Cup games and Yakubu flashes a header just wide for Everton.
2132: GOAL Chelsea 6-1 Derby
But wait, the comeback's on. Michael Essien, who has only just come on, deflects Kenny Miller's pass into the path of David Jones who slots home left-footed. That's Derby's sixth away goal of the season - one of the other five came at Old Trafford.
2131: GOAL Chelsea 6-0 Derby
Even Frank Lampard looks a bit embarrassed about that one. The midfielder spins away from two defenders before shooting low into the corner.
2130: Darren Bent's looping header looks like it might drop in but Heurelho Gomes gets fingertips to it. What a night in the Uefa Cup. And the Prem for that matter.
2129: "Re 2123: That was very generous to call it an offside 'attempt'. An attempt suggests some presence of organisation."

2124: GOAL Chelsea 5-0 Derby
Embarrassing now. Frank Lampard completes a fairly standard hat-trick, firing in from 25 yards after the Derby defence backed off, Roy Carroll only able to help the ball into the net. Men against boys.
2124: GOAL PSV 0-1 Tottenham (agg 1-1)
With 10 minutes remaining, Pascal Chimbonda crosses from the right and Dimitar Berbatov sends a stunning volley into the corner. A fabulous strike from the Bulgarian. We're going into extra time as it stands.
2123: GOAL Chelsea 4-0 Derby
Derby make a pathetic attempt at an offside trap, allowing Nicolas Anelka in. His shot is saved but Joe Cole buries the follow-up.
2121: "Lampard has had an amazing game... We look so lost in midfield without him, as seen at Barnsley."
JT_BlueForever on 606
2120: Everton keeper Tim Howard pulls off a brilliant save to tip Giampaolo Pazzini's header over the bar. It's a thriller at Goodison Park.
2117: GOAL Aston Villa 1-1 Middlesbrough A very harsh decision as a shot hits Luke Young on the elbow when the defender was looking the other way. Gareth Barry buries the spot-kick to give Villa a rather undeserved equaliser.
2116: Penalty to Aston Villa.
2116: GOAL Chelsea 3-0 Derby
Nicolas Anelka plays in Joe Cole, who gets to the byeline and crosses for Frank Lampard to tap in his second of the night. Easy.
2114: Darren Bent pounces on an error and drives into the penalty area, crossing for Robbie Keane but it's just too far ahead of the striker. Fiorentina keeper Sebastien Frey makes a double save to keep the score lebvel at Goodison Park - both from Yakubu. Everton very much in the ascendancy.
2112: To those of you wondering what's happening at Villa Park. The answer is diddly squat.
2109: GOAL Everton 2-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-2)
Hello... hello! Mikel Arteta sends a piledriver into the corner from 25 yards. Goodison Park erupts. Extra time as it stands.
2108: PSV keeper Heurelho Gomes comes to punch and accidentally flattens Robbie Keane as well. Gomes immediately asks Keane if he's OK. And he is.
2105: So Steed Malbranque is at left-back for Spurs with Didier Zokora and Jonathan Woodgate in the centre of defence, Pascal Chimbonda on the right. The game at Stamford Bridge kicks off in the second half.
2104: Aaron Lennon is on for, wait for it, Ledley King. A bold substitution. Particularly as Jermaine Jenas appears to be struggling with an injury.
2059: Another scare for Birmingham. Liam Ridgewell flicks out a foot and brings Milan Baros crashing to the ground - but referee Steve Tanner waves away the penalty appeal. Looked like one of those stonewallers.
2057: Jermain Defoe should complete his hat-trick but smashes the ball wide with only Maik Taylor to beat.
2056: What a let-off for Spurs. Danny Koevermans beats Spurs' poor attempt at an offside trap from the free-kick but stabs the ball straight to Paul Robinson from only a few yards out. Unbelievable miss.
2054: GOAL Portsmouth 3-2 Birmingham
Sulley Muntari floats in the free-kick and Birmingham keeper Maik Taylor opts against coming to collect, leaving Hermann Hreidarsson to finish from close range.
2051: Back under way at the Parks of Villa and Fratton. Villa boss Martin O'Neill makes a double change. Marlon Harewood and Olof Mellberg replace Shaun Maloney and Craig Gardner.
2051: Robbie Keane squares the ball for Darren Bent, but his shot is well held by PSV keeper Heurelho Gomes.
2049: The two Uefa Cup games are away again. Darren Bent is on for Tottenham, replacing Lee Young-Pyo. Spurs three at the back now.
2047: HALF-TIME Chelsea 2-0 Derby
Chelsea on cruise control already as they close in on 77 home games unbeaten.
2044: Almost 3-0 but Roy Carroll makes up for that mistake a moment ago by saving Salomon Kalou's stinging effort.
2042: GOAL Chelsea 2-0 Derby
Frank Lampard slides the ball through for Nicolas Anelka and though Derby keeper Roy Carroll gets there first, he can only push the ball to Salomon Kalou who strokes into the empty net.
2040: PLAYER RATER
Robbie Keane is top of the pops for Spurs on 7.70, with Young-Pyo Lee bringing up the rear on a miserable 4.60. For Everton, Mikel Arteta leads the way on 7.56.
2039: "Re 2030: Chelsea are coming back into it - seems they've had 44% possession now."

2034: HALF-TIME Portsmouth 2-2 Birmingham
A thriller at Fratton Park. Jermain Defoe's brace gives Pompey an early lead but Birmingham fight back through Fabrice Muamba and Sebastian Larsson.
2033: HALF-TIME Aston Villa 0-1 Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough deserve their lead against an out-of-sorts Villa.
2033: HALF-TIME PSV 0-0 Tottenham (agg 1-0)
Bit boring to be honest.
2032: HALF-TIME Everton 1-0 Fiorentina (agg 1-2)
Andy Johnson's scrappy finish gives Everton hope for the second half.
2030: The more observant among you will have noticed something funny is going on with our stats for the Chelsea-Derby game. I can confirm that Derby have not had 88% of the possession at Stamford Bridge.
2029: Boro striker Mido clears off the line from John Carew after a goalmouth scramble at Villa Park.
2028: GOAL Chelsea 1-0 Derby
Debrby substitute Dean Leacock trips Frank Lampard and the midfielder picks himself up to slot home the spot-kick - his 14 goal of the season.
2027: Penalty to Chelsea.
2025: GOAL Portsmouth 2-2 Birmingham
Sebastian Larsson curls home a stunning free-kick from 20 yards. Portsmouth's wall fell apart a bit but it was a great strike.
2024: A good chance for Boro now as Mohamed Shawky shoots narrowly wide from 25 yards.
2022: Spurs win a corner after PSV keeper Heurelho Gomes clashes with his own defender as he tries to catch a long ball. From it, Ledley King gets ahead of the defender but his header drifts past the far post. Meanwhile, Everton striker Andy Johnson heads over from a Mikel Arteta corner - should have done better.
2021: Now Everton go close as Yakubu turns the defender and shoots low - but Sebastien Frey saves well to his left. Michael Ballack has the ball in the net for Chelsea but he's offside.
2018: A worrying moment for Everton as Manuel Pasqual skips down the left and crosses for Martin Jorgensen but his volley goes straight into Tim Howard's arms.
2017: Derby's veteran defender Alan Stubbs picks up an injury and is replaced Dean Leacock.
2015: Boro midfielder Mohamed Shawkey is booked for a lunge on Wilfred Bouma. He had been warned, but he obviously didn't listen did he?
2009: GOAL Aston Villa 0-1 Middlesbrough
Zat Knight gives the ball away to Stewart Downing who skips away from Craig Gardner and then sidesteps Knight before finishing at the near post. The winger's seventh goal of the season.
2008: "Spurs getting plenty of posession and just had first shot at goal, PSV looking very comfortable, hardly out of first gear."

Fiorentina keeper Sebastien Frey allows Steven Pienaar's cross to slip through his fingers and the ball bounces off Andy Johnson's chest and in. Hope for Everton.

1956: Villa keeper Scott Carson makes a superb point-blank save from Boro striker Tuncay and Mido puts the follow-up narrowly wide.

1954: GOAL Portsmouth 2-0 Birmingham

1947: We're up and running everywhere except Stamford Bridge - which kicks off at 2000 GMT.
1944: Not the sort of stats that Everton fans will want to read but anyway here goes... Everton haven't scored against an Italian team in Uefa club competition for 450 minutes. Fiorentina have not lost a Uefa Cup away game this season.
