Sorensen to undergo knee surgery
Thomas Sorensen
Sorensen was replaced by Stuart Taylor against Middlesbrough
Aston Villa keeper Thomas Sorensen will undergo surgery on the knee injury he sustained in Saturday's league clash against Middlesbrough.

The Denmark international is expected to be on the sidelines for up to three weeks after initial scans showed he sustained ligament damage.

Sorensen picked up the knock in a collision with Boro's Emanuel Pogatetz.

Manager Martin O'Neill said: "The way it looks at the moment is that he will be out for two to three weeks."

O'Neill added: "Thomas has got a bit of ligament damage and we don't yet know exactly how long he will be out for.

"He's booked in for an arthroscopy on Wednesday to see if there is any damage to the cartilage and if there is, we will do something about it."

Reserve keeper Stuart Taylor will provide cover while Sorensen recovers from his injury and will start against Manchester City on Wednesday.
