Birmingham have signed defender Bruno N'Gotty on a one-year deal.
N'Gotty scored seven goals for Bolton
The 35-year-old French centre-back was out of contract at Bolton but wanted to remain in the country.
"I had offers from other clubs but this was the challenge I wanted and I wanted to continue playing in England," he told Birmingham's official website.
"I think they are a good choice. The club have a good stadium and a lot of good fans. Birmingham were unlucky to go down last year."
N'Gotty, who spent five years at Bolton and was capped six times for France, added: "They have a very good coach in Steve Bruce, who wants to get promotion straightaway, so it's a good opportunity for me.
"Before signing I talked to him and I asked 'what do you want for the future?'.
"He told me about his plans and I decided I wanted to sign for them."
Birmingham have been busy in the transfer market, signing striker Cameron Jerome, midfielder Neil Danns and full-back Stephen Kelly.
