Two clubs from each geographical section have been handed byes for the first round of the LDV Vans Trophy.
Bradford and Port Vale are the two northern teams selected, while Colchester and Walsall receive byes in the southern section.
They were chosen in a draw at the Football League's Operations Centre.
The full draw for the first round, involving the other 44 League One and Two clubs plus 12 Conference teams, takes place on Saturday, 17 September.
