Gascoigne set to leave hospital
Paul Gascoigne
Paul Gascoigne is expected to leave hospital on Thursday as he recovers from pneumonia.

The former England midfielder was admitted to a London hospital on New Year's Eve after feeling unwell.

His agent Alex Armitage said: "It looks like Paul will be out of hospital on Thursday or conceivably Friday, but more likely Thursday.

"He's had a huge amount of support from his friends and old team-mates and he's had a large number of visitors."

Gascoigne, 37, will continue his convalescence at home.

"Presumably he will have to take it fairly easy but as yet we don't havefinal instruction from the doctors," Armitage added.

Gascoigne has applied to manage Newcastle Jets in Australia's inaugural A-League.

He is looking to get back in the game after leaving a player-coach role at Boston in October after only two months.

Scottish club Morton decided against appointing him as their boss because of a lack of coaching qualifications.
