Sheffield Wednesday boss Chris Turner picked out Glenn Whelan for praise after the Carling Cup win over Walsall.
Whelan set up Lee Peacock to score the winning goal and Turner told the Owls' website: "That's the sort of pass he can see and execute.
"He is feeling his way into the team. He had patches of brilliance and others where he didn't do the simple thing.
"But the ball was worthy of any top class midfield player and the finish from Peacock was excellent."
