Non-league side chase Collymore
Stan Collymore
Collymore would be a huge signing for Burscough
UniBond League side, Burscough, are hoping to tempt former England striker Stan Collymore out of retirement.

Burscough spokesman, Stan Strickland told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We'd like, if possible, to arrange a meeting.

"Nothing might come of it, but it might appeal to him. Now that we're FA Trophy winners, maybe we've got a bit more clout about these things.

"The odds are long against a club of our size - but we've had one or two positive signals. "

Last year, Collymore told BBC Sport that he was mulling over a return to the field after two years working in the media.

"When I said I was retiring that was the intention, but with the caveat that if somewhere in the future an opportunity came along, I would consider it," he said.

"But it would have to be the right offer for both parties.

"It's not a question of finance or money, but purely for football reasons."

Collymore was on the books of 11 different clubs - including Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Leicester - and earned three England caps in an eventful career.
