Easily identifiable by his bald pate and impressive repertoire of pained facial expressions when brandishing yellow cards, he refereed the 2002 World Cup final.

Now in his new book, The Rules of the Game, the Italian delves deep into the world of what it takes to be a top class referee in the modern game.

Collina gives unique insight into how the men in black prepare mentally for the pressures of refereeing under the media spotlight, as well as meeting the physical challenges.

The 43-year-old is also a financial consultant and discusses the difficulties of managing his busy life.
