Mooney joins Derby

Mooney has also been on loan at Stoke and Sheff Utd

Birmingham striker Tommy Mooney has agreed to join Division One strugglers Derby on a one-month loan deal.

The 31-year-old could be involved against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday if the formalities of the deal are completed in time.

The striker has already been on loan at Stoke and Sheffield United this season as he is no longer considered a part of Blues manager Steve Bruce's first team plans.

Mooney fell out of favour after criticising the team's pre-season preparations on his own website last August.

Mooney said: "It's a fact I won't play for Birmingham again. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.

"But things move on and that's why I'm here at Derby. I'm certainly looking to do well and hopefully the manager will keep me in mind at the end of the season.

"There are other options on the horizon but I'd jump at the chance to join Derby because it's a massive club.

"Hopefully I can come here and score a few goals because that's what it's about at the end of the day."
