Bournemouth 2-1 Cardiff
Bournemouth win on the golden goal rule
Striker James Hayter was the last-gasp hero as Third Division Bournemouth dumped Cardiff out of the LDV Trophy at Dean Court with a superb win. Hayter fired home the winner 23 minutes into extra time as in-form Bournemouth notched their ninth successive home win to end Cardiff's hopes of a trip to the Millennium Stadium in May. The 24-year-old slotted home from close range after Stephen Purches' shot rebounded off the post. The Cherries were on course for victory in normal time when midfielder Wade Elliott deservedly opened the scoring with a delightful chip over Cardiff goalkeeper Martyn Margetson after 78 minutes. However, Bluebirds substitute Gavin Gordon equalised just two minutes later when he headed home at the back post. But Hayter was to have the final word as his strike booked Sean O'Driscoll's men a place in the semi-finals of the Southern Section.
