Wigan seek double boost
Second Division leaders Wigan Athletic are set to sign midfielder Nicky Eaden on loan from Birmingham City.

Former Manchester City defender Richard Edghill is also looking for a move to the JJB Stadium.

Eaden was due to start training with the Latics on Thursday, before signing on loan ahead of Saturday's home game with Peterborough.

It's an opportunity for Nicky to play regular first-team football
Wigan boss Paul Jewell

The 29-year-old has spent the last two seasons at Birmingham following a move from Barnsley, but has only made it as far as the bench for Steve Bruce's side in the Premiership this term.

Blues boss Bruce said: "It's an opportunity for Nicky to play regular first-team football.

"It will be of benefit to him and us, if we need to call him back."

Meanwhile, Edghill is hoping to revive his career with Wigan after appearing for their reserves.

The 27-year-old has been without a club since ending a 10-year stay at Manchester City in the summer.

He turned out for the Latics' second string in a 1-1 draw at Stoke on Wednesday, and is hoping to impress boss Paul Jewell.

Edghill, a former England Under-21 international, started over 200 senior games for City after making his League debut in the 1993/4 season.
