Lineker unveils new Foxes home
Gary Lineker
Lineker started his career at Leicester
Gary Lineker has opened Leicester's new 32,500 all-seater stadium.

Former England striker Lineker went back to his hometown club to officially open the Walkers Stadium after the club moved from Filbert Street.

"It is an amazing football ground," said Lineker.

This stadium is one of the best state-of-the-art of its kind
Leicester chief executive Steve Kind

"It is sad to say goodbye to Filbert Street but I can't wait to watch a few matches here. It's pretty spectacular."

Their first match at the ground will be on 4 August against Spanish side Athletic Bilbao.

Leicester were going to call the ground the Walkers Bowl but that was scrapped after complaints from fans.

Chief executive Steve Kind said: "This stadium is one of the best state-of-the-art of its kind in the country and a flagship development not just for the club but for the community and city of Leicester as a whole."
