Rangers accused over Muscat
Australian international defender KevinMuscat
Muscat admitted signing a pre-contractual agreement
Rangers have broken the game's transfer rules in signing a pre-contract agreement with Kevin Muscat, the player's present club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, have alleged.

The Australian international is set to move to Ibrox in the close season on a Bosman free transfer.

But, on Tuesday, Wolves attacked the move.

I have to express our anger and disappointment at what has happened
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey
Chief executive Jez Moxey said: "I am very, very unhappy at the situation.

"We believe rules have been broken, because the laws about players signing pre-contractual agreements were changed for this season.

"The player has admitted signing this contract after first denying it and I feel no need to protect him.

"Although I suspect ignorance has played a part with what he has done.

"Rangers are saying they have not broken any rules and I am sure they will defend their corner, but I have to express our anger and disappointment at what has happened."

Muscat suffered an uneasy last few months at Molineux after manager Dave Jones openly criticised the full-back for getting himself sent off against Grimsby Town.

Muscat then went on to miss the last seven games of the season through suspension and injury.

But, despite the accusation, Wolves do not feel that they will be able to prove any wrongdoing.

Moxey said: "This issue raises all sorts of questions, but I don't think we will be able to demonstrate that Rangers are in breach of any regulations.

"This is not a witch hunt, I am just stating facts, although I don't think we can gain anything from this."
