Zamora handed Under-21 chance
Brighton hot-shot Bobby Zamora
Zamora has scored 32 goals this season
Brighton striker Bobby Zamora has earned him an England Under-21 call-up for Tuesday night's friendly with Portugal.

The 21-year-old hot-shot, who has scored 32 goals this season, is one of five frontmen named in a 25-man squad for England's last warm-up game ahead of next month's European Championship Finals in Switzerland.

"Bobby's record over the last two seasons speaks for itself and I'm looking forward to working with him in training," said England Under-21 coach David Platt.

"He obviously has a natural talent for scoring goals and that is priceless."

Manchester United defender Wes Brown, West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick, Blackburn's David Dunn and Leeds striker Alan Smith are also included for the game at Stoke City.

Regulars Ledley King and Scott Parker miss out because of injury but there are places for Shaun Wright-Phillips, Peter Crouch and Jermaine Jenas.

"It's good to see Wes fit and playing again," said Platt. "He has a wealth of experience for a player so young, both domestically and in Europe, and his composure and mobility are a plus for any team."

Portugal are in the same group as England for the first stage of the competition but have lost their last two games to the Czech Republic and France since qualifying.

"We won't be taking those results too seriously," said Platt. "We know Portugal are an excellent team and we know it will be a hard match.

"They're in our group at the European Championships in Switzerland and this game gives us an opportunity to measure up."

Under-21 squad: Robinson (Leeds), Kirkland (Liverpool), Bywater (West Ham), Young (Charlton), Wright (Liverpool), Barry (Aston Villa), Riggott (Derby), Brown (Man Utd), Knight (Fulham), Konchesky (Charlton), Samuel (Aston Villa), Pennant (Arsenal), Wright-Phillips (Man City), Davis (Fulham), Carrick (West Ham), Prutton (N Forest), Jenas (Newcastle), Johnson (Leeds), Dunn (Blackburn), Etherington (Spurs), Defoe (West Ham), Smith (Leeds), Christie (Derby), Crouch (Aston Villa), Zamora (Brighton).
