Bristol City 3-0 Bristol Rovers

Two goals from Lee Matthews booked Bristol City's place in the Southern LDV Vans Trophy final with a 3-0 win over city rivals Bristol Rovers.

Matthews only came into the side because Tony Thorpe was suspended, but his goals secured a plac ein the two-legged regional final against Cambridge United.

His first strike after 31 minutes followed a 30-yard unchallenged run and a low shot which beat keeper Scott Howie and went in off the post.

Matthews then struck again with a run down the left and a left-foot shot in first-half injury-time.

Rovers leading scorer Nathan Ellington was well shackled by defender Kevin Amankwaah and the Pirates created very little up front.

Mickey Bell killed off the tie with a shot into the top corner of the net threeminutes into the second half.

Bristol City: Phillips, Amankwaah, Coles, Hill, Murray, Burnell, Doherty, Aaron Brown, Bell, Peacock, Matthews. Subs: Attwell, Tinnion, Lever, Hulbert, Rodrigues.

Bristol Rovers: Howie, Smith, Foran, Trought, Challis, Gall, Hogg, Plummer, Andrew Shore, Ellington, Ommel. Subs: Clarke, Jones, Walters, Cameron, Bubb.

Referee: D Crick (Worcester Park)
