Hamm women's winner
Hamm is a World and Olympic champion
Mia Hamm has been named the first ever winner of Fifa Women's Footballer of the Year award
The 29-year-old Hamm has made 219 appearances for the United States, scoring 129 international goals. She currently plays her club football for Washington Freedom but was unable to attend the ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland to receive the award. Chinese international Sun Wen, who now plays in America, came second. And American international Tiffeny Milbrett, who plays for New York Power and scored 16 goals in 20 games for her club last season, came third.
