Danny Schofield grabbed a goal in each half as Huddersfield ultimately eased past Division Three side Scunthorpe to reach the LDV Vans Trophy northern section semi-finals with a 4-1 home win.

The scoreline flattered the Terriers but Schofield took his goals tally for the season to seven with two classy finishes.

The former non-League striker, playing wide on the left, latched onto Chris Holland's pass before beating Carl Bradshaw for pace and curling the ball past goalkeeper Tom Evans after 23 minutes.

With little to choose between the sides, Scunthorpe equalised after 63 minutes when Steve Torpey glanced in Lee Hodges' cross.

But the visitors were level for less than 60 seconds as Schofield crashed the ball in off the underside of the crossbar for his second goal of the game.

Substitute Chris Hay netted his second goal in successive games after 76 minutes before striker Andy Booth completed the scoring six minutes from time, heading the ball past Evans from Hay's corner.
