Chesterfield 0-3 Blackpool

Blackpool cruised to a convincing 3-0 victory in their LDV Vans Trophy northern section quarter-final at Chesterfield.

The first half was evenly contested but a deflected Neil MacKenzie goal gave the Seasiders the edge and they drove home their advantage in the second half.

Goals from John Murphy and Martin Bullock gave the visitors a comfortable cushion and they could have scored more goals on the break.

Chesterfield started well and were unlucky when midfielder Sean Parrish headed the ball against the bar in the sixth minute.

There was a suspicion of handball in the build-up to MacKenzie's 37th-minute opener.

But Chesterfield could have no complaints about Blackpool's other two goals.

Murphy drove the ball home from 10 yards and Bullock side-footed past Nathan Abbey after Murphy had set him up.

Abbey made several outstanding saves to keep the score down but Blackpool were well worth their progression to the semi-finals.

Chesterfield: Abbey, Booty, Breckin, Payne, Edwards, Howard, Richardson, D'Auria, Parrish, Reeves, Beckett. Subs: Richmond, Williams, Willis, Rushbury, Nathan Smith.

Blackpool: Barnes, Coid, Reid, Jaszczun, Bullock, Collins, O'Kane, Hills, MacKenzie, John Murphy, Marshall. Subs: Parkinson, Hughes, Clarkson, Pullen, Jamie Milligan.

Referee: M Pike (Barrow-in-Furness).
