Reading 2-1 Colchester
Goals from Neil Smith and Darius Henderson clinched Reading's place in the quarter-finals of the LDV Vans Trophy southern section.

Smith opened the scoring against Colchester on the stroke of half-time when he headed home Nicky Shorey's left-wing corner.

And Henderson gave the Royals a two-goal cushion when he drilled the ball in from the edge of the penalty area in the 72nd minute.

Colchester subMicky Stockwell pulled a goal back in the 78th minute.

But it proved to be just a consolation as Reading comfortably held on for the win.
