Brighton 2-1 Wycombe
Steve Melton's golden goal two minutes into extra time secured a 2-1 win for Brighton over Wycombe.
Melton broke the deadlock from Lee Steele's through-ball moments after Albion goalkeeper Michel Kuipers had brilliantly denied Dave Carroll. Midfielder Melton should have put Brighton ahead in this LDV Vans Trophy second round match.before Geoff Pitcher drove the Seagulls in front on the stroke of half-time. Gavin Holligan cashed in on a poor back-pass from Nathan Jones to equalise 10 minutes after the break. Kuipers saved superbly from Carroll five minutes later and Brighton's German striker Dirk Lehmann twice went close as the teams ended normal time level. Lehmann should have scored in the last minute but directed his header over the crossbar from Jones' cross.
Brighton: Kuipers, Pethick, Wicks, Crosby, Jones, Pitcher,
Rogers, Melton, Brooker, Steele, Lehmann.
Wycombe: Osborn, Johnson, Cousins, Ryan, Carroll, Lee, Bulman,
Senda, Phelan, Emblen, Holligan. Referee: Paul Armstrong (Berkshire).
