Wrexham 0-1 Huddersfield
A fifth-minute goal by Chris Holland proved enough to put Huddersfield through into the quarter-finals of the the LDV Vans Trophy at Wrexham's expense.

The Terriers had beaten their hosts 5-1 in the league at the McAlpine Stadium on Saturday, but Denis Smith's side ensured the game was much tighter this time.

The Red Dragons pushed hard for an equaliser after the interval but Lou Macari's defence held firm.

In stoppage time, Michael Blackwood had a great chance of taking the tie into extra time but Town goalkeeper Martyn Margetson produced a superb save.

Wrexham's Jim Whitley and Craig Faulconbridge both went off injured and are rated as very doubtful for Sunday's league match against Cardiff.

Wrexham: Walsh, Whitley, Roberts, Hill, Miller, Chalk, Thomas, Ferguson, Blackwood, Faulconbridge, Sam. Subs: P Whitefield, Trundle, Gibson, Carey, Morrell.

Huddersfield: Margetson, Heary, Clarke, Gray, Moses, Irons, Mattis, Holland, Schofield, Booth, Knight. Subs: Phillip Senior, Dyson, Michael Senior, Macari, Hay.

Referee: P Richards (Preston)
