Bury 2-3 Notts County
A blunder by goalkeeper Glynn Garner on his Bury debut handed Notts County a 'golden goal' winner.

The LDV Vans Trophy second-round tie at Gigg Lane had ended 2-2 in normal time.

Garner lost possession as he slid out to gather the ball in wet conditions in the 116th minute and County striker Danny Allsopp slotted it home.

It was tough luck on Bury as moments earlier, striker John Newby had wasted two glorious chances to send his side through.

The Shakers had taken the lead in the 11th minute through Ian Lawson, only for County to hit back with goals from Tony Hackworth and Allsopp either side of the interval.

But Andy Preece's side drew level through a Danny Swailes header just after the hour mark to set up an exciting finish.

Bury: Garner, Collins, Swailes, Nelson, Unsworth, Forrest, Borley, Reid, Stuart, Newby, Lawson.Subs: Kenny, Whiteman, Connell, Clegg, Syros.

Notts County: Mildenhall, Grayson, Fenton, Warren, Baraclough, Cas, Owers, Caskey, Hamilton, Allsopp, Hackworth. Subs: Nicholson, Bolland, Deeney, Heffernan, Stone.

Referee: M Jones (Chester).
