Minute-by-minute action from England's friendly against Holland at White Hart Lane.

Full-time: Holland deservedly beat England courtesy of goals from Mark van Bommel and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

92 mins: Owen misses England's best chance of the match. Edgar Davids plays a careless back-pass and the Liverpool striker latches onto the ball, speeding past Hofland into the area before lashing the ball over the bar.

87 mins: Lampard fires a free-kick straight at the Dutch wall.

85 mins: England substitute Smith tries a speculative shot from 30 yards and it goes harmlessly wide.

81 mins: Melchiot twice clears threatening England crosses.

74 mins: Melchiot slides to clear Mills' right-wing centre. The game has become stagnant and is being played at a pedestrian pace.

69 mins: Leeds United striker Alan Smith comes on for Andy Cole.

68 mins: Mills flings a long throw into the Dutch box and the leaping Andy Cole almost makes contact.

62 mins: Southgate gives away possession and Kluivert breaks forward menacingly, but his shot is blocked on the edge of the area. The visitors are continuing to control the game.

52 mins: Carragher does fantastically well to keep the ball in on the right-hand touchline and crosses into the area. Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot heads clear from the centre of the Dutch area.

46 mins: Dutch substitute Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink shrugs off Keown and tries to lift the ball over James from just inside the area.

James saves but both he and Keown are injured when they collide. James is replaced by Arsenal's Richard Wright and Middlesbrough defender Ugo Ehiogu comes on for Keown.

45 mins: England make seven changes. David James, Frank Lampard, Gareth Southgate, Danny Mills, Nick Barmby, Michael Carrick and Michael Owen all come into the fray.

Half-time: Holland deservedly take a commanding lead into the interval. They have dominated possession and created numerous chances, while England have rarely broken out of their own half.

42 mins: Van Nistelrooy shows an imperious piece of skill by lobbing Martyn from the right corner of the area. His effort hits the crossbar and desperate England are relieved to clear.

38 mins: Zenden shoots from 30 yards and Martyn is only able to parry his scorching effort.

Van Nistelrooy reaches the rebound ahead of Keown and scores from close range.
England 0-2 Holland.

Holland are dominating the opening stages.

15 mins: England claim a penalty when David Beckham's cross from the right appears to strike Giovanni van Bronkhorst's arm. The referee waves play on.

8 mins: Holland have a glorious opportunity to go ahead.

Van Nistelrooy springs England's offside trap and finds himself free on goal. He shoots powerfully from the edge of the six-yard box but Nigel Martyn makes an excellent save with his body.

6 mins: Martin Keown reacts brilliantly to dispossess Ruud van Nistelrooy eight yards from the English goal.

4 minutes: Holland midfielder Mark van Bommel has the first shot of the game but his 25-yard effort goes harmlessly wide.
