Gio still in talks with Rangers
![]() Van Bronckhorst: flattered by Chelsea interest
Giovanni van Bronckhorst could yet remain a Rangers player after the summer.
The Dutch international midfielder has stressed that he is still in negotiations with the Ibrox club about his future. Van Bronckhorst has been the subject of a failed transfer bid from Chelsea. The English Premiership club have stressed that they have no plans to increase their offer.
"It really hasn't changed a lot since the last time I talked about my future. Right now, I'm still a Rangers player," van Bronckhorst said on his personal website on icons.com. "Negotiations are still going on with Rangers. "I haven't signed any new deal yet and, until the talks with Rangers come to an end, it's impossible to say what will happen. A compliment "It's always nice, and flattering, to be linked with a club like Chelsea. "They are one of the biggest English teams and have a number of great players. "If they are interested in me, that is a compliment. Right now, I'm still talking to Rangers and that is the immediate situation." Chelsea made an offer of £6m, but Rangers value the 26-year-old at £10m. Rangers had long seemed resigned to losing van Bronckhorst this summer and the midfielder appeared keen to find a fresh challenge. He missed much of this season through injury. His absence coincided with the dip in form that led to Rangers' exit from the Champions League and from the domestic title race.
