Guernsey will cope with testing

Physiotherapist Dan Guillemette believes his Guernsey team will be able to cope with random drug testing at the Island Games.

The 2009 Games in Aland will be the first time tests are being carried out on athletes.

Guillemette, who is a UK Sport anti-doping adviser, said the competitors are fully aware of the new rules.

"The tests are being conducted by the Swedish authorities, we don't envisage any problems," he said.

"Some of our athletes like Tom Druce and Dale Garland, the athletes who compete away a lot, are used to it.

"But for the majority, who tend to be decent club athletes who compete within the Channel Islands, it's never been a factor for them."
