World champion Tom Daley will miss this weekend's British Gas Diving Championships because of a back injury.

But Daley's coach, Andy Banks, is confident that he will be fit for the European Championships in August and Commonwealth Games in October.

The 16-year-old was set to compete at Ponds Forge in Sheffield from Friday before he was hurt in training.

"I am pleased that there is no evidence of any serious problems with Tom's back," Banks said.

"The physio and medical team have done a great job at helping with his recovery," he added.

Daley will now focus on regaining his fitness in time to travel to Budapest for the European Championships, which start on 4 August, before representing England at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi from 3 October.
