Kate Cross called up to England women's cricket squad

Women's cricket

Lancashire bowler Kate Cross has been called up to the England women's squad for the Twenty20 series and Ashes Test against Australia.

Cross, who played for the England Academy last summer, has been brought in after injuries to Beth Morgan and Claire Taylor.

"The call-up came as a bit of a surprise, but it's a fantastic opportunity," said the 19-year-old.

The five-match Twenty20 series starts in Adelaide on Wednesday.
