US is Gough's 'last option'
Darren Gough and England coach Duncan Fletcher
Gough has already had three knee operations
Darren Gough is planning to fly to America in a last-ditch attempt to cure his career-threatening knee injury.

The England fast bowler admits he may have played his last international match after being forced to return home from the Ashes series in Australia.

Gough's injury has so far required three operations and has prevented him from playing more than a handful of matches in the past year.

The 32-year-old was set to see another specialist on Wednesday before travelling to America next week to seek treatment on his worn-out cartilage.

"I'm bracing myself for the worst," Gough told the Daily Telegraph.

"America may be my last chance of finding out exactly what's wrong and whether I have a chance of ever playing again.

"It's depressing, and I have to face the fact that I may never play again. But if America is my last option then I'll be giving it one last go."
