Chris Gayle has been reprimanded by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for criticising the handling of his selection as one-day captain.
Gayle has had a poor tour of England with the bat
Gayle was also unhappy about the late arrival of replacement players for the one-day series against England.
A WICB statement warned it would "pursue this matter at the end of the tour" and "take drastic action" if Gayle makes any more indiscretions.
According to the WICB, Gayle has refused to apologise for his comments.
"There is no love lost between myself and the board," Gayle admitted.
"These things happen and you just have to move on in life and not take these things personally against each other.
"I am in the right frame of mind. I have been in tougher situations than this
before and I have dug myself out of it and I am just looking forward to
contributing to the team as well.
The WICB has issued a very strongly-worded letter of reprimand to Mr Gayle advising him that his conduct is totally unacceptable
"Will I stand up to the board? Yes, that's me. I always stand up for what I
believe in and when I'm wrong, I'm wrong and when I'm right, I'm right."
Gayle, who took over the captaincy from stand-in Test skipper Daren Ganga, met with WICB president Kenneth Gordon in London on Monday.
The WICB statement said: "After lengthy discussions during which Mr Gayle was made aware of the true circumstances surrounding the matters about which he had unfairly attacked the board, Mr Gayle was requested to issue a public apology to the WICB.
"He subsequently advised the president and team manager that he was not prepared to apologise.
"The WICB has issued a very strongly-worded letter of reprimand to Mr Gayle advising him that his conduct is totally unacceptable and that the WICB will pursue this matter at the end of the tour.
"The WICB is hopeful that [he] will understand the seriousness of his actions and avoid any further statements or behaviour that will force the WICB to take drastic and immediate action against him."
West Indies, who recently lost their four-match Test series against England 3-0, face England in back-to-back Twenty20 matches at The Oval starting on Thursday before taking on their hosts in three one-day internationals.
