Brian Lara has been named in the West Indies squad for the second Test against South Africa but Shivnarine Chanderpaul retains the captaincy.
Lara was the skipper until he and several other players were left out of the first Test following a dispute over their personal contracts.
Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo have also returned to the squad for Friday's second Test.
Chanderpaul will retain the captaincy for the rest of the series.
And a West Indies Cricket Board statement added that Chanderpaul, who scored a double hundred in the drawn first Test, would also remain as skipper for the series against Pakistan, which follows the visit of South Africa.
Fast bowler Fidel Edwards had also been available to play in the Test, which starts on Friday in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, but was not selected in the squad.
Devon Smith, Daren Ganga, Donovan Pagon and Narsingh Deonarine are the players left out.
It was feared the players' personal contracts with Cable & Wireless would clash with the team's main sponsor Digicel.
Sarwan and Gayle cancelled their deals with Cable & Wireless shortly before the first Test in Guyana, but too late to make the starting line-up.
At that point, Cable & Wireless temporarily dropped its remaining deals with individual players, pending the ruling of an independent adjudicator who is set to deliver his binding verdict on the dispute.
Lara had been invited by the WICB to play in the first Test in Guyana, which ended on Monday, but declined in a show of solidarity with the other players involved in the dispute.
The West Indies were forced into one unexpected change when all-rounder Ryan Hinds withdrew from the squad for the second Test on Wednesday suffering from a viral illness.
Hinds, who played in the first Test and took 1-64, has been replaced by batsman Donavon Pagon.
Second Test squad: Shivnarine Chanderpaul (captain), Courtney Browne (vice-captain), Chris Gayle, Donovan Pagon, Wavell Hinds, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Brian Lara, Dwayne Bravo, Daren Powell, Pedro Collins, Reon King, Dwight Washington.
