Pakistan take tri-nations opener

Pakistan 233 (39.3 overs) beat Bangladesh 163-8 (40 overs) by 70 runs

Pakistan completed their 12th one-day win in a row with a 70-run victory over Bangladesh in a rain-affected opening match of the tri-series in Dhaka.

With the game reduced to 40 overs a side, hosts Bangladesh opted to field as Pakistan scored 233 in 39.3 overs.

Opener Salman Butt (70) led the way, ably assisted by Mohammad Yousuf (59).

Bowlers Shahid Afridi (3-19) and Wahab Riaz (3-22) took control for Pakistan, while captain Mohammad Ashraful (56 not out) top-scored for Bangladesh.

Pakistan meet India in their next match on Tuesday in Mirpur.
