Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar admitted his team were well below their best in the heavy defeat by Sri Lanka.
Bashar dropped two catches having won the toss and put Sri Lanka in
"They played good all-round cricket but we didn't bowl to our plan and we didn't field well. [Sanath] Jayasuriya batted very well today," he said.
Bashar admitted that overall net run-rate had been a consideration when the chances of victory had long gone.
"We planned to bat through the innings but we lost too many early wickets, nothing went right for us today."
The Tigers, who stunned India in their opening match, conclude a keenly contested Group B against minnows Bermuda, who have been thrashed in both their opening games, on Sunday.
"I hope this is just a bad game and we can come back in the next game," the captain said.
