One of the best five batsmen in the world, Ponting is a terrific player off both front and back foot with an enormous appetite of runs.
But I, for one, think it will be interesting to see how his captaincy fares if Australia come under pressure once again.
Without wishing to overstate it, captaincy is his weak suit. When England got on top in 2005, he was found wanting in that department.
