Prior ruled out of World Twenty20
Matt Prior
Breaking his thumb caps a miserable month for Prior
England wicket-keeper Matt Prior will miss the rest of the World Twenty20 after breaking his right thumb during a practice session in the nets on Monday.

The 25-year-old will be out for between three to six weeks, with Vikram Solanki set to continue behind the stumps when England face India on Wednesday.

The Worcestershire man kept wicket well during Tuesday's loss to New Zealand.

Durham's uncapped wicket-keeper Phil Mustard has been called into England's one-day squad for the Sri Lanka tour.

But the 24-year-old will not join the squad for Wednesday's clash against India, which is likely to see England playing only for pride, though a big victory could see them into the semi-finals if South Africa go on to lose to India and New Zealand.

Prior's thumb injury, sustained while facing throw-downs from coach Peter Moores, caps a disappointing month for the Sussex keeper, who was not handed a central contract by the England selectors.

Meanwhile, Andrew Flintoff's fitness remains a concern after he bowled below full pace during New Zealand's innings.

Flintoff, who is taking painkilling injections because of an ongoing ankle injury, was seen to be limping in the field but still managed a superb 1-11 off three overs.

However, Graveney said the all-rounder's condition had not deteriorated and dismissed rumours that the 29-year-old would not be fit for the tour to Sri Lanka.

"He's enjoying his cricket but we know we have to manage his fitness," said Graveney.
