Andrew Flintoff said a one-day series win over Australia helped a little to make up for England's Ashes whitewash.
England won in Sydney to take the finals series 2-0
"I'm pleased to be taking silverware home. There's a lot of emotion now - I want to get home and see my family.
"Obviously it doesn't cover the disappointment of the Ashes but we can't look at that now - we're playing one-day cricket," he said.
"I'm sure that will be addressed after the world cup before we play Test cricket again."
England went more than two months on tour without beating Australia, before securing three successive one-day victories.
When you experience the lows we did after the Ashes series sometimes you wonder if you're going to be able to get yourself up for cricket again
Flintoff put the dramatic about-turn down to an increasing maturity, determination and the contribution of Paul Collingwood, who followed back-to-back centuries with 70 in Sydney.
"There was a real determination in the side to put in a good performance and I think we thoroughly deserved to win on the day," he said.
"When you play against Australia for the first time it comes as a bit of a shock. They key is believing you can beat them and the penny dropped.
"What a time for Paul to hit form! He came out and played as we know Paul can play. The timing of it was pretty much perfect."
Collingwood described the win over as one of the highlights of his career.
"It's been a rollercoaster ride, the hardest tour I've been on but it's a great way to finish off a very long tour that's been mentally testing," he told BBC Sport.
"When you experience the lows we did after the Ashes series sometimes you wonder if you're going to be able to get yourself up for cricket again.
"We've had some seriously low times but we knew we weren't that far away."
Wicket-keeper Paul Nixon hailed "an exceptional effort by some exceptional guys".
He told Five Live: "We had worked so hard in practice and preparation that it had to come right, we needed some luck.
"Hopefully now we can ride the crest of the wave for a long time. We've got a lot more belief now.
"Some of these guys have been away since October and to do what they've done as the last effort was special."
