We had been told by Martin Johnson in the Independent that we were the team that "can't bat, can't bowl, can't field.

I just can't explain what happened, how we went from not being able to win a match to performing to the level required to win an Ashes series in Australia.

He retired in 1992 but later returned to the England fold as a coach. Aged 46, he is now head coach at Loughborough Centre of Cricket Excellence.
