Latest: England 282-3 beat New Zealand by seven wickets
Nasser Hussain hit a superb century as he guided England to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the first Test.
Hussain notched up the 14th Test ton of his career as he shared an unbroken 139-run stand with Graham Thorpe.
Thorpe ended 51 not out and earlier Andrew Strauss was run out for 83, missing out on becoming the third batsman to hit two centuries on debut.
Stand-in captain Marcus Trescothick was caught and bowled by Daryl Tuffey for two and Mark Butcher was out for six.

1720: Hussain smashes a superb four down the ground and then hits another to notch up a fantastic century and then hits the winning runs for a memorable England win.
1717: Hussain needs seven more runs for his 14th Test ton as England come within 10 of beating New Zealand, he takes a single and is then back on strike.
1707: A cheeky edge from Hussain goes for two runs and surpasses his previous best score batting last in a match and Thorpe gets in on the run-feast too with a four down the ground. Thorpe celebrates a fifty, off 97 balls.
1703: Martin replaces Vettori at the Pavilion End and Hussain flashes at it and it goes over Styris' head in the slips for four.
1659 Tuffey takes the new ball and beats Hussain on the off-side but he fails to find an edge, then Hussain hits him for four off a short delivery and flicks another boundary for good measure.
1652: New Zealand captain Fleming decides against taking the new ball as Vettori switches ends.
1648: Cairns comes on for Vetorri and Hussain immediately smacks him but it is picked up in the field, but then Thorpe pulls him for four and the 100 partnership comes up Thorpe and Hussain.
1644: Hussain takes two boundaries off Oram, getting down the pitch to drive through long-on then turning square on the leg side to move within 50 of victory. Oram leavs the field at the end of the over with an apparent injury.
1639: Thorpe looks for a single past the slip fielder but he gathers it and Thorpe just gets back in time. Hussain gets down the pitch and drives a single into the covers.
1635: Oram replaces Martin at the Pavilion End, the batsmen swapping singles.
1628: Hussain and Thorpe trade singles before the drinks break. During the break the umpires notice a split seam on the ball and change it.
1621: Hussain goes on the attack against Martin, lofting him over mid-on and cutting three more. Thorpe misses with a pull.
1619: Hussain pushes a couple on the off-side to complete a vital 50 from 158 balls. Vettori has an appeal turned down, hitting Hussain just outside off stump.
1611: Thorpe edges Martin high in the air through third man for four to bring up the 200. Hussain pushes to point and Thorpe sends him back firmly. Martin dishes up four wides, heading past Thorpe's hip at waist height. With a no ball included the over eventually lasts eight balls, costing 12.

1450: Hussain is struck painfully on the elbow but is settled enough to square-drive a boundary

1440: Cairns just beats Thorpe's inside edge. McCullum celebrates an edge next ball but no one else sees it. Thorpe takes two towards midwicket.

1419: Cairns gets his first bowl of the innings, replacing Vettori at the Nursery End. Hussain plants him through extra cover, down the hill for four. Hussain edges as umpire Koertzen shouts "no ball" and a diving McCullum fails to take it.
1416: After the drinks break the crowd is still enthusiastically clapping every single run, like Strauss's push to cover. Hussain is beaten wafting at a delivery that seams away massively.
1409: Hussain top-edges a sweep just out of reach of wicket-keeper McCullum. Strauss cuts off the back foot through extra cover for four. He pushes a single on the leg side to bring up the century partnership to rousing applause.
1406: Strauss gains a round of applause for a single off Martin to fine leg.

1120: Strauss just gets down on a delivery from Oram that keeps horribly low. Both batsman gain a single from a delivery anglind down leg side.
1115: Spinner Vettori replaces Tuffey at the Nursery End with much expected of him on a wearing pitch. Strauss nudges a leg-side single. Butcher looks to take the left-armer on but struggles to gauge the turn.
1111: Butcher and Strauss both pinch quick singles off balls that keep low. Oram moves around the wicket to Butcher.
1106: Tuffey strays down leg side again and Butcher helps himself to a single. Strauss drives a wider delivery brilliantly through the covers for a tension-relieving boundary.
