First ODI as it happened
England 157-8 (29.3 overs) beat West Indies 156-5 by two wickets

Darren Gough marked his international comeback with the winning runs as England snatched victory in the first one-day game against West Indies.

Set 157 to win in a game reduced to 30 overs a side in Guyana, they did so with three balls to spare.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul hit 84 off 96 balls after a slow start to see West Indies to 156-5.

England looked beaten as they slumped to 131-7 but Chris Read's 27 off 15 balls turned the game their way.

Latest action (all times BST):

30th over: Harmison comes to the wicket with three needed and is quickly off strike with the help of a leg bye. Gough slices the two needed for victory over point from the next ball.

27th over: Read responds to the challenge by launching Collymore back over his head for six.

26th over: Read and Clarke are on different wavelengths as Clarke is run out by half the length of the pitch after being sent back as he tries to pinch a single.
England 120-7 (Clarke 1)

21st over: The asking rate continues to rise as Dillon allows only two singles from his fifth over.

20th over: Gayle races through an excellent over which sees England add only a single.

19th over: Things go from bad to worse for England as Trescothick is bowled by Bravo, who is nejoying a debut to remember.
England 75-4 (Trescothick 26)

18th over: Flintoff's old fallibility against spin returns as an attempt to heave Gayle over the leg-side results in a thin edge to the keeper.
England 75-3 (Flintoff 8)

17th over: A disciplined over by Bravo permits no liberties from the England batsmen.

16th over: Flintoff's immense power brings him a six as he clips Rampaul away over square leg.

15th over: A drinks break does Strauss no favours as he resumes by playing around a straight ball from Bravo and is bowled.
England 60-2 (Strauss 29)

14th over: Another fine over from Rampaul, with a pushed one to mid-off by Strauss the only run off the bat.

13th over: A wide by Bravo takes the England total to 50 and sloppy work by Chanderpaul at cover gifts Trescothick a boundary.

11th over: A good over from Bravo restricts England to three singles.

10th over: Strauss cuts powerfully behind square for four as Rampaul strays too wide in his opening over.

5th over: Trescothick smears across the line after advancing down the wicket and collects four lucky runs off the under-edge.

20th over: Chanderpaul pulls a rare short ball and Harmison is unable to cut off the boundary at long leg. Clarke's next ball is superbly driven past cover for four more.
