Gareth Batty took five for 53 as England cruised to an eight-wicket win over the Carib Beer XI in Bridgetown.

The hosts began the final day 167 runs adrift on 51-1 and were dismissed for 229 to leave England needing 12 to win.

Off-spinner Batty, not used by England on their tour until this match, first ended the determined innings of opener Daren Ganga, who made 39 in two hours.

He then claimed four wickets after lunch, with Ashley Giles taking 2-34, and James Anderson finishing with 3-56.

Two balls after the re-start, Batty earned a leg before appeal against Dwayne Bravo.

Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin followed four overs later when he was snapped up sharply by Paul Collingwood at short leg.

Promising off-spinner Omari Banks was then brilliantly caught by Rikki Clarke at mid-wicket, diving goalkeeper-style to his left to take the catch.

Batty wrapped up his maiden five-wicket haul at this level two overs later when Dave Mohammed edged behind.

But England's hopes of completing an innings victory before Thursday's third Test were frustrated by a 34-run stand between last-wicket pair Jermaine Lawson and Dwight Washington.

England quickly knocked off the 12 runs required to win, thought not before losing the wickets of Paul Collingwood and Batty.
