Yorkshire's Andrew Gale delighted to captain Lions

Yorkshire's Andrew Gale says he is honoured to be named captain of the England Lions for their game against Pakistan A in February.

The news comes just weeks after Gale was appointed the new Yorkshire skipper for the 2010 season.

"To just be on the tour was great, but to be captain is great and I'm very pleased," Gale told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I think this will be good experience for me to take into my Yorkshire captaincy role."

The left-handed batsman will lead the 16-man squad, which also includes Ian Bell and Yorkshire spinners Adil Rashid and David Wainwright.

"It will be good to know some other players in the squad and it's an added bonus for me to already know how the two spinners play together.

"I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into it all and just want to get some cricket under my belt as well as experience in captaining a side.

"I'm just going to focus on the tour ahead, get my head down, hopefully score some runs and hopefully we can go out there and get some wins."
