Graeme Hick will open the new pavilion at New Road ahead of Worcestershire's Twenty20 match against Northants.

The former Worcestershire batsman told BBC Hereford and Worcester he is delighted the new stand is named after him.

"When Mark Newton contacted me and said they would like to name it after me, I felt very honoured."

Work began on the re-development in September and Hick is looking forward to seeing the completed building.

"When the New Road stand is completed and it all fits in, I'm sure the facilities provided for players and supporters and members will be great," continued Hick.

"The old pavilion was on it's last legs with the flooding over the years and everything did need a face-lift.

"It might take a few years, but once it's all completed I think it will look fantastic."
