Hick extends contract
Graeme Hick
It seems Hick will end his career at New Road
Graeme Hick has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Worcestershire until the end of the 2006 season.

Hick had two years left on his current deal, but the addition of two more years should see the 36-year-old end his career at New Road.

Hick, relieved of the captaincy after the 2002 season, was delighted to secure his long-term future with the county.

Graeme is an icon of Worcestershire cricket and the club is delighted

Mark Newton
Worcestershire chief executive

"I'm delighted we have been able to resolve this matter and I would like to thank all the members and supporters who have written and expressed their support," the former England batsman said.

"I look forward to being part of a team that I'm sure will bring success to the club next year."

Hick has scored more first-class runs than any other current player in an 18-year career at Worcestershire, hitting 121 centuries in 440 matches.

Worcestershire chief executive Mark Newton said the club was looking forward to continuing its association with Hick.

"Since his debut in 1984 Graeme's contribution to Worcestershire has been immense," Newton said.

"I'm sure I speak on behalf of every member and supporter when I say how pleased we are with this news and how much we look forward to seeing him score many more hundreds in the years to come."

Worcestershire were close to honours last season but just missed out on promotion to division one with a fourth-place finish in the championship.
