Heath Streak has resigned as Warwickshire captain after just one Championship match this season, with Darren Maddy appointed his replacement.
Streak took over the captaincy from Nick Knight
This was Streak's second season as captain following Nick Knight's retirement at the end of last season.
"I have been contemplating this move for some time and I feel it is the right thing to do. It has been affecting my personal game," he said.
"It is now in the team's best interest for someone else to take over."
Warwickshire drew their first match of the season with Lancashire and beat Northamptonshire in the Friends Provident Trophy.
Maddy, who joined this season from Leicestershire, said: "It will be a real honour to lead out the side on Wednesday.
"Streaky has taken a difficult personal decision but I am confident he will continue to give his all for the Bears.
"For my part I will be working as hard as I can to re-pay the confidence the club has placed in me by making this appointment."
